MONOPOLY for iPad App Reviews

Started out good, won some,lost some but now the last6 or 7 games I have not once been able to keep my pass go money. I land on income tax every time. Would like for u to at least make it even for the player.

I dont know what everyone is complaining about. Ive figured out how to win on hard every single time. You just need to find a strategy.

I waited a long time to buy this game because I was constantly debating whether or not to spend the money due to all the negative reviews, but I finally broke down and bought. I LOVE IT!!!! Its very addictive!!!! I play everyday!!! Please read my entire post to get in game details and descriptions of the game overview to give you a good idea of what you will be getting when you purchase this app. A lot of reviews say that the AI is favored to win and/or cheats. I do not agree. I have won 30 out of 35 games against the AI playing various levels. I love the graphics. The game is identical to the classic board game version, but without having to do all the set up. Trades are fun and easy to do and the AI is usually pretty agreeable, but does turn some down if they are way too one sided. The best way to win is to work hard to gain 3 of the same color and put up property before the AI does. You will be over there doing houses one at a time and he goes straight to hotels, which in the end is why he always loses. He may have 3 hotel properties compared to my 6 properties that have 2-3 houses each, so the odds are he is hitting on mine more than I am hitting on his. So then he has to start mortgaging everything and selling off his hotels to pay. Once I can start building houses it is not long before the AI goes bankrupt. This is a great way to kill time. Its a fun game with great graphics and depending on how you play and what you buy, you can almost always win. I dont use the "house rules" feature so I cant comment on how good/bad that feature works because I stick to the basic game rules. Ive played this game pretty much my whole life and have never played this game with anyone using "house rules". Id honestly never even heard of that before I got the app. Im just not sure why anyone would change the rules of a game that comes with rules already set, but to each his own. I felt like the pace of the game was actually pretty fast. I can honestly say it way faster than playing the board game version with other people. I also like that you can "pass" on buying a property that you land on and then it goes in to a bidding war and the highest bidder wins it. If you have more money than the other player or AI sometimes you can win the property for a cheaper price than just buying it straight up. You can pick your own game piece and you can pick the game piece that the AI uses. This was a good option to me because some pieces, like the thimble, sort of "hop" around the board and I got a massive headache from watching it hop. The dog and cat are the most fun to watch. The car and the ship seem to move around the board the quickest. This is totally worth the $4.99 purchase price. I highly recommend this app!!! Five stars!!!! Update July 13, 2017: I would say this is definitely proof that this game is not rigged in any way to favor the AI. My current stats: Overall record (won/played) 68/73 Record (easy) 49/54 Record (medium) 11/11 Record (hard) 8/8 Most money earned: 27k Highest # houses: 32 Highest # hotels: 12

Could be a great game except for two things. First is the animations, they are unnecessary and slow down the game. There is an option for turning of the animations but even this does not completely get rid of them. The "doubles" animations for when you roll doubles still always shows up as well as the "monopoly" animation. The monopoly one is especially annoying when you get railroads, i put the gam down and walk away for a while for this one. Second problem is that the dice-rolls seem to defy probability. It feels like the game is constantly rigged for AI to win and your strategy is worthless. It is frustrating watching AI constantly pass your developed monopolies or spend the entire last part of the game in jail as you give them all you money.

Trading properties does not work at all. Massive bug, making the game virtually useless without such a core aspect of the game functioning.

I tried downloading it and every few seconds the screen froze and I had to reset the iPad. It never even downloaded. I only gave 1 star because I couldnt give it 0.

I like this game a lot, but incredibly frustrating that the harder levels only rig the dice more and more against you, rather than increasing the skill of the AI players. Ive lost many games to constantly landing on the AIs properties while they skip over mine. I would give this 5 stars if they just changed it to make the dice rolls truly random.

I love the game, but the graphics that pop up throughout the game are so annoying that I cant even enjoy it anymore. Even the most mundane turn results in shooting stars across the board. Its just as annoying as pop-up ads, if not more! And the board keeps slanting and turning...why cant it just be stationary?? I gave a review of 3 stars a few weeks ago (it would have been 5 if it werent for all the graphics). Now Im reducing it to 1 star, only because there isnt an option to give it zero stars! Dont waste your money...the annoyance of the unnecessary graphics totally ruins the game!

Shame on the developers who setup the algorithms! This would be fun if the dice roll was closer to real odds. You can beat the computer Al nearly every time if you block monopolies. However, youll have to watch as Al players gallup past your hotels happily landing on every other space or retreat safely to jail! Once you have hotels the game will digress quickly since Al will no longer pass Go to collect money. Sad because it could be a great game like the board game with real dice odds. Update with real odds and itll be great! Thumbs down for wasting an opportunity!

Love the game, but too many graphics shooting across the board. Also wish that the game board could stay in a stationary position instead of rotating - it actually makes me dizzy! I would give this game 5 stars if the graphics would either go away completely or at least give the option to turn off ALL the graphics!!

Monopoly has always been my favorite board game, and this version could be great with a few fixes. To start with, you should be able to save your preferred settings as a "default" for example how many players, their tokens, house rules, or no house rules, etc. This would make starting a game so quick and easy instead of the annoyance it is now. Secondly, and much more basic yet just as big if not a bigger gripe for me - give an option to turn off tutorials permanently!! Maybe in the same place that you turn them off could be an option that if you did so by mistake or change your mind, you could turn them back on, but seriously - get rid of them! Last, a way to turn the ridiculous "go to jail" and "doubles" animations off. Would dramatically speed up game play. Thats about it. Pretty easy I would think and considering the price, I certainly dont think its too much to ask. Make these improvements, and itd be 5 stars for sure.

I love the game so much but the excess animations is just so bad dat its a great distraction. Please remove the excess animations.

600 yen. Deep into game. What a waste. Bug has been around for 6 months. Ruined Christmas.

I had boardwalk and park place that would cost ALOT if the ai were to land on them but I kept landing on them and kept losing loads of money and they never landed on them only me I I had them for awhile they kept landing on the ones RIGHT next to them and while I was losing money a AI with almost 4000$ was making bad trades and the AIs accepted them so not only it fells like the AIS refuse to land on anything of mine they seem to team up on me it makes the game REALLY unfair.

As others have complained, playing against the computer opponents is frustrating because the dice rolls are loaded against you and no matter how good your strategy, the game drags on forever with the AIs consistently passing over your properties, while you always seem to land on theirs. And dont get me started on the "dumb luck" of the Chance and Community Chest cards. Apparently the "sleight of hand" option is always in play for the computer opponents.

Terrible game with annoying and distracting graphics. The board constantly spins and zooms all over the place. Very hard to follow the gameplay. Poor interface and user experience. Its monopoly- keep it simple! I would like a refund as I plan on deleting the app and never use it again. Really disappointed in this one.

New update increases the likelihood of rolling doubles to ludicrous levels. First game I played, on 211 rolls, I rolled more 12s than 7s. Both the AI and myself were constantly ending up in jail for rolling three doubles in a row. Played another game and it was the same thing. Very frustrating! Update: I played 400+ games over the years on the previous version; it was a great way to lay down and relax for a little bit. This new version is garbage, Ive played probably around a couple dozen games on the new version to try to give it a fair shake and I just cant do it anymore. Its utterly aggravating. The aforementioned issues with the die rolling. It plays nothing like a real game of Monopoly. Everything feels completely fixed. Thank goodness I still have the old version on my HP TouchPad. Ill have to dust it off when I want to play a decent game of Monopoly now. Changed my star rating to a 1 (I gave the previous version a 5). If I had just purchased it, I would be demanding a refund.

The new version doesnt work wjth the new update. The screen goes black you hear the music but you dont see the board. Anyone else having this problem.I am on Ipad Pro 9.7.
